Covid Mitigation Policy
The Illinois Nurses Association supports Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s statewide COVID-19 mitigation measures. Nurses are on the front lines of the state’s health care system and a spike in COVID-19 cases puts them at heightened risk and jeopardizes the health care system’s ability to care for all Illinois patients. Two nurses died earlier this Spring from COVID-19 and even now, dozens of nurses have tested positive. Stringent mitigation measures based on sound science and public health practices are called for to ensure we reduce the infections from COVID-19.
Nurses from the Illinois Nurses Association urge all Illinois residents to follow the state’s mitigation efforts which are as follows:
- Bars and Restaurants: close at 11:00 pm, reopen no earlier than 6:00 am following day; tables 6 feet apart
- Personal Care Services: operate at lesser of 25 people
- Office: All employees who can work from remotely must work remotely
These measures, at minimum, are necessary to help ensure we reduce the rate of COVID-19 infections.
We urge everyone to wear a mask in public, keep at least six feet distance from each other, avoid gatherings and wash your hands regularly.
