Illinois Nurses Association endorses Ventura for Congress

The Illinois Nurses Association has endorsed Will County Board member Rachel Ventura in her race for the Democratic nomination in the 11th Congressional District.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of INA, an organization that understands and fights for legislation that advances the quality of health care in our country,” Ventura said in the release. “As an elected official, we must ensure that our nurses are given the wages, job security, and protections that they deserve.”

Ventura is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, for the Democratic nomination.

She’s criticized him for not supporting a single-payer Medicare for All system. Foster has argued he prefers for legislators in Congress to focus on improving the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare.

Ventura explained her position on Medicare for All with her personal story of spending two years uninsured. She said she experienced firsthand the challenges of rising health care costs.

“Medicare for All will ensure that all Americans have access to the medical care that they need while saving Americans money and protecting our medical providers,” Ventura said in the release.
