In Memory of George Floyd

The Illinois Nurses Association members share in the pain and grief at the murder of George Floyd. We add our voices to the cry for justice for Mr. Floyd and his family.

We are RNs, APRNs and LPNs dedicated to saving lives. The same communities that are impacted by police violence are disproportionately dying of COVID-19. African-American, Latino and Native American communities have both experienced death by this horrible virus and death at the hands of corrupt police at higher rates than any other communities.

As we approach Juneteeth we remember the centuries of enslavement of Black people and we see the legacy of institutional racism playing out today. We call for systemic change in policing, criminal justice and healthcare to end this suffering. Now is the time to unite in support of each other and stand together for healing the discord that surrounds us.
